KIND to Host Business Briefing on Tashkent Smart Bio-Cluster Project in Uzbekistan

- Development plan and market entry conditions to be presented to Korean pharmaceutical and biotech companies on September 17

- Uzbekistan’s pharmaceutical authority to attend in person for Q&A on regulatory approvals, incentives, and other key issues

The Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation (KIND), headed by President and CEO Bok-hwan Kim, announced that it will host the 2026 Uzbekistan Tashkent Smart Bio-Cluster Business Briefing together with the Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency (MPIDA) under the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan at Amore Hall, Amorepacific Headquarters in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 17.

The Tashkent Smart Bio-Cluster Project aims to develop a specialized pharmaceutical and biotech cluster on a site of approximately 60 hectares within the Tashkent Pharma Park in Uzbekistan. KIND, together with MPIDA and BoMI E&C, is reviewing the cluster’s development and operation model as well as the potential to attract Korean and international tenant companies.

The briefing has been organized to present Korean companies with the project plan, support measures and incentives available in Uzbekistan, and key findings from the review conducted to date, while identifying corporate demand for entering the Uzbek market and locating operations within the Smart Bio-Cluster. KIND also plans to gather information on companies’ key needs and policy support requirements for market entry and reflect them in the project structure going forward.

The briefing is open to pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, and cosmetics manufacturers interested in entering Uzbekistan and the broader Central Asian market, as well as companies providing Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)-related services, investment and financial institutions, and other relevant businesses.

The briefing will begin with opening remarks by the President and CEO of KIND and congratulatory remarks by the Director of MPIDA, followed by presentations on ▲ the project background; ▲ the project site and development concept; ▲ infrastructure plans, including water supply, electricity, and wastewater treatment; ▲ land allocation arrangements; ▲ support measures for companies, including tax, customs, and financial support; and ▲ the project schedule and procedures for future participation.

The presentations will be followed by an on-site Q&A session with representatives from KIND, BoMI E&C, and MPIDA, and the Pharmaceutical Agency, providing Korean companies with an opportunity to directly raise questions on issues of particular interest when entering the Uzbek market, including access to land, infrastructure provision, and incentives.

We will make every effort to incorporate the feedback gathered at the briefing into our consultations with the Uzbek government and the process of further developing the project structure.”
