KIND Expands Cooperation on Overseas Investment and Development Projects at ‘GICC 2025’
Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation (KIND, President: Kim Bok-hwan) announced that it will actively participate in the 2025 Global Infrastructure Cooperation Conference (GICC), hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT, Minister: Kim Yoon-deok) and organized by the International Contractors Association of Korea (ICAK, Chairman: Han Man-hee). Through its participation, KIND aims to expand cooperation with foreign governments on investment and development projects and to further support the overseas expansion of Korean companies.
At GICC 2025, KIND will take part in the High-Level Multilateral Meeting (sub-theme: “Global Cooperation on K-Infrastructure”), where it will present its past achievements and future vision as a global K-developer to more than 500 senior officials and stakeholders from Korea and abroad, while also engaging in dialogue and listening to their views.
Since its establishment, KIND has executed investments totaling USD 500 million across 21 projects in 14 countries. Last year, in partnership with global developers, it successfully secured major national projects such as the Qatar Facility-E Desalination and Power Plant project and the Nakash–Basaksehir Highway project in Türkiye.
Building on these achievements, KIND will further expand collaboration with global developers, promote the creation of overseas infrastructure funds such as a Global Strategic Fund, and strengthen Team Korea’s cooperative framework. Through these efforts, KIND intends to take a more active role in the fast-growing investment and development market worldwide, while also calling for closer cooperation with the Korean government and international partners.
In addition, KIND will host an investor relations session for the PIS* Fund Phase II**. Following the completion of the Phase I fund, KIND has been spearheading the establishment of Phase II. In February 2025, the parent funds was launched with KRW 440 billion, followed by the successful creation of KRW 700 billion in sub blind funds on August 29. Full-scale investments are scheduled to commence in September.
* Global Plant, Infrastructure, Smart City (PIS) Fund
** PIS Phase II (KRW 1.1 trillion): Parent funds KRW 440 billion (Feb. 2025) + Sub blind funds KRW 700 billion (Aug. 2025); project funds of KRW 400 billion currently under formation
The briefing session will introduce the PIS Phase II Fund in detail, including the investment guidelines of the sub funds. It will also offer one-on-one consultations with companies, helping them better understand the fund and actively utilize it in the future.
Furthermore, KIND will hold high-level meetings with the Chairman of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) of the Philippines and the Deputy Secretary General of the National Railway Secretariat of Panama to facilitate the swift progress of Korean companies’ projects in these countries.
KIND will also contribute to the successful hosting of GICC 2025 by participating as a presenter in individual sessions and supporting various program initiatives.
GICC 2025 will take place from September 16 (Tuesday) to September 18 (Thursday) at The Westin Josun Seoul Parnas Hotel in Samseong-dong.
Since its launch in 2013, GICC has been Korea’s largest platform for global infrastructure cooperation, held annually to strengthen collaboration between the government, major overseas project owners, multilateral development banks, and construction/engineering companies, as well as to support the overseas expansion of Korean firms.
This year’s conference will once again invite ministers, vice ministers, CEOs, and other key decision-makers from major client countries to share infrastructure development plans and upcoming project pipelines. The event will also feature one-on-one project matchmaking sessions, MDB seminars, an Energy Transition Forum, and road and railway seminars.
