The Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation (KIND, President Kim Bok-hwan) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Investment Promotion and Business Support Agency (IPBSA), a key agency representing Hue City in Vietnam, to foster cooperation in sustainable urban and infrastructure development. This agreement aims to build a practical foundation for future collaboration in areas such as urban development, green infrastructure, and technology transfer through a formal partnership with Hue City.
Prior to the signing ceremony, the KIND delegation held a meeting with the Vice Chairman of Hue City to engage in in-depth discussions on the city’s urban development vision and explore strategic directions for bilateral cooperation. Hue, a historic and cultural hub in central Vietnam, is currently pursuing a transformation into a sustainable smart city.
The MOU outlines key areas of cooperation, including:
▲Sustainable urban development (including smart city infrastructure and green urban planning),
▲Development of infrastructure in transportation, energy, and telecommunications,
▲Establishment of eco-friendly industrial parks and special economic zones,
▲Development of sustainable residential and commercial properties, and
▲Other mutually agreed activities related to sustainable development.
KIND plans to contribute to strengthening Hue City's urban development capabilities through joint feasibility studies, legal and institutional reviews, technology transfer, and capacity-building programs. While the MOU is not legally binding, it reflects both parties’ intent to collaborate, with each specific project to be pursued through separate, concrete agreements.
At the signing ceremony, KIND President Kim Bok-hwan stated, “Hue City, with its rich historical and ecological assets, has the potential to become a model for sustainable urban development. KIND will actively support Hue’s sustainable growth by leveraging the investment capacity and technological expertise of Korean private companies.”
